I have an inherent aversion to the mundane, be it within the confines of my abode or outside it. This explains why my closet is an explosion of colours – a sight that would assuredly induce a headache. I firmly believe that buildings too, should be awash with vibrant hues, contributing to the vitality of a cityscape instead of merely blending into the monotonous white and grey backdrop.
In my travels, I chanced upon a uniquely hued building, bathed entirely in blue, in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. Nestled in the borough of Delfshaven, its strikingly blue exterior is indeed an eye-catching anomaly. Intriguingly, the building’s azure tint was not a deliberate choice but an inadvertent happenstance.
Previously, the structure was derelict, earmarked for demolition. However, it unexpectedly found new life when a company inexplicably painted it blue, transforming it into a distinctive Rotterdam landmark virtually overnight. Today, it is a favorite among tourists who flock from all corners of the globe to capture its unique charm. It is indeed a fascinating sight – an aged structure proudly clad in a coat of paint, against all odds. Its future remains uncertain, yet it continues to captivate in its current azure form.
